How to Write a Résumé
Prospective employers use the information on your résumé to determine whether you will be granted an interview. It is very important that your résumé emphasizes your relevant experience and achievements because it is usually the script for the interview. Following are some tips and a sample résumé:
1. Make it one page only.
2. Do not use graphics or photos.
3. Include your name, current address, email address and home phone number at the top.
4. Be certain that your career objective can be accomplished for the position in which you are applying.
5. Customize your resume for the position you desire
6. Start with the most relevant achievement whether it is skills, experience or education at the top.
7. List experience and education in chronological order (most recent first.)
8. Use months and years for dates of employment.
9. Group different employers as one if you were at the same property through management changes. Also group various positions under one employer if at the same property or company.
10. Use bullet points under each employer to highlight your achievements using action verbs rather than listing a job description.
11. Do not include personal information such as age, marital status or hobbies.
12. Be absolutely certain there are no errors. Triple check the employment dates.
13. Omit "References Available" from the resume, but have them available.
14. Do not attach documents such as recommendation letters, diplomas or certificates.

best to omit it:
1. Address it to the person who will be making the hiring decision for the position you desire.
2. Relate your qualifications to the specific needs of the employer.
3. Emphasize your value as a potential employee by stressing skills and accomplishments.
4. Reiterate your qualifications when responding to a job announcement with specific job requirements.
5. Ask for an interview.
6. Keep it brief and be absolutely certain that the spelling and grammar are correct.
